Everything began with a T...

My day was full of the letter T today since it was all about Talking Tech Today!

Today I coordinated a all-day Technology Professional Development Session in the building for any interested teacher. My tech colleagues and I were able to chat with others in the building and share our knowledge about the SAMR Model and infusing more technology into the curriculum. How did these sessions come to be productive and collaborative? By using a key Ed Tech tool called the SAMR model (stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition) from the work of Dr. Ruben Puentedura!

To help teachers understand the model, we showed them a short video on the SAMR design, and then shared existing project ideas and how they work within the model as well as other successful experiences we have had with technology in the classroom. Then, teachers took an existing assignments and we helped them walk it "up the ladder", thereby increasing technology use and student creativity in their classroom. Outcomes of every session today? Encouragement, collaboration and smiles on all York Duke faces! While we are featuring the letter T today...here are some Totally Terrific Teachers!
